L'ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels

L'ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels

L'ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels, first of its kind in the world, made its début in Hong Kong on October 16th, 2014; the nomadic school of jewelry & watchmaking took up residence at PMQ for the next 17days. L'ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels offered a range of courses and conversations designed to illuminate and to inspire to lovers of beauty, enlightened connoisseurs and professionals. The Maîson requested the designer to conceive a total branding for L'ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels, which shall capture the essence of L'ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris with the embodiment of local éclat wherever the school is visiting. The selection of materials, color tones and details was carefully fine-tuned to set L'ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels apart from the boutiques without losing its heritage.

FOYER

FOYER

The overall design layout of L'ÉCOLE Hong Kong was inspired by the design philosophy of ancient Chinese gardens in framing of views with creative illusions. The design of the large area rug as an evocative fish pound, the long bar in an abstract shape of a boat with an ikebana-inspired arrangement, plus the Chinese inspired screens were all pulled together to create the illusion of a fairy tale.

LOUNGE

LOUNGE

Drawing design inspiration from French master Pierre Chareau and combining with history and modernity set in Hong Kong, the amalgamation is in congruence with the DNA of the Maîson of Van Cleef & Arpels yet distinctive. The juxtaposition of the finest Carrara marble top at the lounge bar against the dark galvanized mild steel plates in raw state stylishly combined to initiate the look of an institution in the making.
